Condolences for Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin

With profound grief we announce the passing of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin in Shanghai at 12:13 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2022, at the age of 96.

The Embassy of China in Beirut will open a condolence book at the Embassy, Rue Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock entrance, for Lebanese officials, Ambassadors and Heads of international organizations from 10 am to 12:30 pm every day from Thursday to Tuesday (1-6 December 2022). Guests are required to make pre-registration for signing the condolence book to 81-485695/70-888120 or chinaemb_lb@mfa.gov.cn. Public condolences can be conveyed to chinaemb_lb@mfa.gov.cn.

President Jiang Zemin was an outstanding leader enjoying high prestige acknowledged by the whole Communist Party of China, the entire People’s Liberation Army and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, a great Marxist, a great proletarian revolutionary, statesman, military strategist and diplomat, a long-tested communist fighter, and an outstanding leader of the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He was the core of the CPC's third generation of central collective leadership and the principal founder of the Theory of Three Represents.
